HONG KONG, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- A month-long lantern festival will be held in Hong Kong, allowing both locals and tourists to feel the Mid-autumn Festival atmosphere and enjoy the art of Chinese traditional lantern-making from this Friday.
The Mid-autumn Thematic Lantern Display 2017 will be themed "Enchanted Blossom under the Moon" and will be open to public on the night from Sept. 22 to Oct. 15 in Hong Kong Cultural Center Plaza, according to the Hong Kong Tourism Board.
The Mid-autumn Festival on Chinese lunar calendar this year is on Oct. 4.
Besides the lantern display, the carnivals will also have other Mid-autumn Festival celebrations, including the self-help lantern riddles, wishes under the moon, folk craft demonstrations of Guangdong and Hong Kong, and spectacular Chinese ethnic acrobatics performance.
In particular, the national intangible cultural heritage, Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance, will be extended for one more night this year, which is traditionally held for three days and nights during the festival in Hong Kong.
A 67-meter-long dragon is studded with thousands of burning joss sticks that at night produce an incredible sea of fire, smoke and dynamic fury as the dragon wends its way through the backstreets of Tai Hang in Causeway Bay.
