STOCKHOLM, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom has slammed U.S. President Donald Trump's first United Nations (UN) address as "bombastic and nationalist," saying the speech was "in breach of the UN charter."

Wallstrom commented on the speech soon after Trump stepped off the podium at the UN headquarters, telling Swedish national radio on Tuesday that Trump's speech was "remarkable" and contained a direct military threat, in breach of the UN charter.

"He threatened North Korea with extinction," said Wallstrom, adding that Trump's speech was a plea for the nation state and was "delivered to the wrong audience." Asked if she found the speech shocking, Wallstrom replied: "Yes, and I think I share that feeling with most people. It was absolutely not a speech in defense of cooperation."

In his first speech at the United Nations (UN) General Assembly, President Trump warned that the United States "will have no choice than to totally destroy" the Democratic People's Republic of Korea unless Pyongyang refrains from its nuclear tests and missile launches.
