TIRANA, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- A mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) landed Tuesday in Albanian capital where they will hold several meetings with the country's top officials.

Sources from Albania's finance ministry informed that the focus of the IMF mission discussions with Albanian authorities would be new government's ruling program, budget revisions and the possibility for a new agreement.

The mission has arrived at a time when Albania's newly sworn-in government is about to begin the restructuring process, the implementation of the new government program and the expected completion of the new draft budget.

Prior to the 2017 election, senior Albanian officials announced that this fall would mark a new cooperation agreement with the IMF, following the conclusion of the previous 3-year recovery program.

After the 3-year program completed late February this year, the IMF in Albania has been playing a monitoring role with an eye on the implementation progress of the recommendations.

The IMF Permanent Representative in Albania has voiced IMF willingness to cooperate closely with the government that emerged from the June 25th elections.
