DHAKA, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh will host the 63rd Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference in capital Dhaka from Nov. 1 to 8.

Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) President Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, also speaker of Bangladesh Parliament, made the announcement at a press conference here Tuesday.

She said the Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) will bring together some 600 foreign dignitaries and delegates from countries of the Commonwealth, the United Nations and other international agencies for this unique event and networking opportunity.

With ever increasing focus on greater scrutiny of parliamentarians and the overall public trust deficit in parliaments, the intergovernmental organization of 52 member states said on its website that the CPA's annual conference offers the opportunity for Members to benefit from professional development, supportive learning and the sharing of best practice with colleagues from Commonwealth parliaments.

The Conference Theme for 2017 is: "Continuing to enhance high standards of performance of Parliamentarians", it said.

The conference will reportedly elect their new chairperson for a three-year term.

Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also the vice patron of the commonwealth parliamentary conference, will inaugurate the conference.
