BEIJING -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.18 percent, at 3,356.84 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.62 percent lower at 11,083.90 points. The ChiNext Index, which tracks China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.77 percent to close at 1,880.30 points.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed down 108.36 points, or 0.38 percent, to 28,051.41 points on Tuesday.
