SINGAPORE, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) dropping 0.49 percent or 15.9 points to close at 3,225.95.
A total of 1.58 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.04 billion Singapore dollars (about 768.68 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 227 to 184.
The STI index went up 1.01 percent or 32.29 points to close at 3,241.85 Monday.
