SHIJIAZHUANG, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- Rescuers are trying to retrieve the bodies of two divers that went missing in north China's Hebei Province earlier this month.

The divers, a man and a woman, were both Shanghai residents. The female victim, aged 39, was also a permanent resident of Singapore. Their bodies were discovered 63 meters underwater in Panjiakou Reservoir in Qianxi county.

According to the local public security bureau, they received a report about the missing divers on Sept. 7. On Monday morning, their bodies were found near the place where the Great Wall dips underwater in the reservoir.

The victims and six other divers all belong to the Global Underwater Explorers, a non-governmental organization aimed at underwater exploring.

Retrieval work is difficult because of high technological demand and unknown underwater conditions.
