Cambodian FM to attend 72nd UN session in New York next week

PHNOM PENH, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn will lead a delegation to attend the 72nd session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly and other important meetings to be held in New York from Sept. 19 to 25.

According to a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday, the Cambodian top diplomat will deliver his speech at the session focusing on the importance of the collective effort to address climate change and terrorism, Cambodia's achievement on Millennium Development Goals and Cambodia's efforts towards the Sustainable Development Goals.

Sokhonn will also highlight regional and international issues of common concerns and the latest developments in Cambodia in his speech, the release said.

The minister will also join the Non-Aligned Movement meeting, the conference on interaction and confidence building measures in Asia, the informal ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) ministerial meeting, and the ASEAN foreign ministers' meetings with the president of the UN General Assembly and the UN secretary general, among others.

On the sidelines of the session, Sokhonn will hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Cuba, Colombia, Brazil, Britain, the United States, and other dignitaries.
