NEW DELHI, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- The two-day talks between India and Pakistan at the World Bank headquarters in Washington concluded without reaching an agreement, officials said Saturday.

The secretary-level discussions between the two countries failed to break the deadlock. The talks were held on Thursday and Friday within the framework of Indus Water Treaty (IWT) on the technical issues of the Kishenganga and Ratle hydroelectric power plants, located in Indian-controlled Kashmir.

"While an agreement has not been reached at the conclusion of the meetings, the World Bank will continue to work with both countries to resolve the issues in an amicable manner and in line with the treaty (IWT) provisions," said a statement issued by the World Bank.

The last round of talks was held in August which the World bank said was held in a spirit of "goodwill and cooperation".
