Vietnam eyes seven golds at AIG

HANOI, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's 164-member delegation on Thursday left for Turkmenistan, targeting five to seven golds at the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIG) slated for Sept. 17-27.

Vietnamese athletes will compete for medals in 14 out of 21 sports, and the biggest hope is pinned on swimmer Nguyen Thi Anh Vien, runner Le Tu Chinh, weightlifter Thach Kim Tuan, chess grandmaster Le Quang Liem and taekwondo fighter Chau Tuyet Van, Vietnam's General Department of Sports and Physical Training said on Thursday.

At the 2013 AIG in South Korea, Vietnam finished third, bagging home eight golds, seven silvers and 12 bronzes.
