LONDON, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- British official figures on Thursday showed that 379 people have been arrested for terrorism-related offences in the year ending June 2017, hitting a fresh record high in the country.

The British Home Office said that the latest figures include the dozens of arrests that have been made following terrorist attacks in London and Manchester this summer.

These arrests represented an increase of 68 percent over the 226 people arrested for the same period in 2016.

Of those who have been arrested, 32 percent result in a charge, the Home Office said.

The United Kingdom has suffered a series of terror attacks this year. Five were killed after a man drove into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge on March 22; 22 died in a suicide bomb attack on Manchester Arena on May 22; and eight were killed in the London Bridge atrocity after three men rammed a van into pedestrians and went on a knife rampage on June 3.

Another man died following a van attack outside a mosque in Finsbury Park, London on June 19, 2017.
