LISBON, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- Portugal placed 850 million euros (1.01 billion U.S. dollars) worth of 10-year bonds on the market on Wednesday at an average yield of 2.785 percent, the lowest since 2015.

According to Portugal's debt management agency IGCP, the demand was more than twice the supply, reaching 1.747 billion euros. The yield was less than the 3.085 percent for the 685 million euros at a comparable auction on July 13, and is Portugal's lowest yield on 10-year bonds since November 2015.

This is the second time the IGCP has gone to the market for long-term bond auction in the third quarter of the year. In July's auction, Portugal collected a total of 1 billion euros, including 685 million euros in 10-year bonds and 315 million euros in 28-year bonds.

Portugal is scheduled to return to the market on Sept. 20 with a further 1.75 billion euros in treasury bills for sale. (1 euro = 1.19 U.S. dollars)
