Policeman stabbed to death in Valencia

MADRID, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- A Spanish police officer was stabbed to death in the east coast city of Valencia by a man who was subsequently shot and killed by other officers, the Spanish media reported on Wednesday.

The incident happened Tuesday afternoon when the police officer, who was a Deputy Inspector with the Valencia Murder Investigation Unit, was investigating the discovery of human remains discovered in plastic bags in the area of Calle Suecia on Monday night.

According to reports, his attacker was asked to identify himself. The man pulled out a knife and stabbed the police officer before being shot and killed by other officers. It is not yet known whether he was related to the discovery of human remains.

Emergency Services attended the scene but were unable to get a response from the injured officer who was pronounced dead at the scene.
