TOKYO, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Wednesday as a comparatively weak yen against the U.S. dollar sent exporter issues higher and buoyed the broader market.
As of 9:15 a.m. local time, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 86.22 points, or 0.44 percent, from Tuesday to 19,862.84.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 8.61 points, or 0.53 percent, to 1,636.06.
Bank, machinery and nonferrous metal-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
