JERUSALEM, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- Water Technology and Environmental Control Exhibition and Conference unveiled Tuesday provides an important cooperation platform for China and Israel in the sector of water resources utilization, exhibitors said.
Also named Watec Israel 2017, the event attracted more than 100 leading water-utilization technology companies from all around the world.
"With a visit to the exhibition and face-to-face talking with professional companies in the fields of water management and treatment, we can learn Israeli advanced technologies," said Tian Xuebin, vice minister of China's Ministry of Water Resources in an interview with Xinhua News Agency. "These technologies are what China desires for."
"We hope to conduct more feasible information exchange with Israeli partners at the exhibition so as to push forward the development of China's water-saving irrigation technology and other related water utilization technologies," said Tian, who led a Chinese delegation to attend the exhibition invited by Israeli Ministry of Economy and Industry.
Israel, which is extremely short of water resources, has developed a lot of top technologies in the sector of high-efficient utilization of water resources.
In particular, the country is playing a leading role in the world in water-saving irrigation technology, also known as drip irrigation, and has a great number of expertise in the sector.
So far, more than 400 technological companies in the sector are serving Israel and other countries, which are headlining the famous exhibition.
As early as in the 1990s, China conducted cooperation with Israel in water-saving irrigation, and the technology of drip irrigation has been used widely in China.
"With China's opening up and the Belt and Road Initiative, a more rosy prospect will be seen for the cooperation between China and Israel in the field of water resources utilization," said Tian.
The exhibitor of Power China, which is the unique China's state-owned company to attend the exhibition, catches eyes of the visitors.
"We could display our successful experiences and technologies, and learn the world's most advanced technologies in water management and utilization," Wang Minhao, deputy general manager of Power China Ltd., told Xinhua.
Power China is now building a 340-megawatt pumped storage power station in Israel, the largest one of this kind in the country, which is viewed as a vital step for Chinese companies to set foot in the water infrastructure sector in Israel.
"We have developed a lot of expertise and technologies and took them out to the world to implement globally. Israel is considered a hub of know-how and technologies in the water industry," said Saar Bracha, president and CEO of TAHAL Group, the largest water engineering company in Israel.
As for cooperation with Chinese companies, Bracha mentioned Israel operates a big business of 13 waste water treatment plants and reuse of water in China.
"China is a huge market with huge potential, because the Chinese government puts a very high priority for agriculture development and water infrastructure," he said.
"TAHAL'S core business is agriculture and water infrastructure, so we have large cooperation with companies from China. China and Israel can do a lot of work together and bring water security and good life to people in need all over the world," he concluded. Enditem
