KABUL, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- At least 29 militants have been killed and 15 others wounded during a series of operations conducted by Afghan security forces over the past 24 hours, the Defense Ministry said on Monday.
"The national security and defense forces have launched 13 clean-up operations and 17 special operations in 10 provinces. As a result 29 insurgents, including their three commanders, were killed and 15 others injured," the ministry said in a statement.
During the operations, caches of weapons and ammunition were seized and destroyed by the security forces, the statement added without providing information about possible casualties of security forces.
Taliban militants who are fighting with the Afghan government did not make comment yet.
