Singapore companies less optimistic about business prospects in Q4

SINGAPORE, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- Singapore's business sentiment for the fourth quarter moderates as the business optimism index dropped to 2.6 percentage points for the period, comparing to 3.58 percentage points for the July-September period, the Straits Times quoted a survey result as saying on Monday.

According to the latest survey released by the Singapore Commercial Credit Bureau (SCCB), the business optimism index of Singapore for the fourth quarter of 2016 was 2.87 percentage points.

The survey result shows that Singapore's manufacturing, services and wholesale sectors are the most optimistic for the last three months of 2017, the transport sector is mildly upbeat, but the construction sector remains pessimistic.

The SCCB is a database operator that polls 200 business owners and senior executives representing major industry sectors across Singapore every quarter on their expectations in the coming quarter.
