VALLETTA, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- Air Malta and Ryanair have reached codesharing agreement which will see Ryanair bring passengers to Malta for onward travel to Africa on Air Malta, Malta's Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said on Sunday.

He said "make or break" talks would be started between Ryanair, the government and other interested parties over Air Malta, which would make it a more attractive proposition for linking up with a strategic partner.

"Air Malta will buy more aeroplanes, grow and flourish, and become the airline of the Mediterranean," he said.

Air Malta and Ryanair will discuss possible avenues of cooperation and will collaborate on sales and commercial initiatives according to Malta's Tourism Minister Konrad Mizzi.

Following discussions between Ryanair and the Maltese Government, Ryanair have announced a major expansion of flight connections from Malta. This expansion will add 12 new routes operated by Ryanair starting from April 2018.
