XI'AN, China, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- A total of 6 athletes "flow" over the 600-year-old ancient city wall and 13th National Games third place finisher Yao Jie claimed the title of pole vault with 5.41 meters at the China Athletic Street Tour (CAST) here on Sunday.

The competition held in the barbican of Anding Gate (the west gate) of Ming Dynasty city wall in Xi'an. Two female and four male players attended the match including two-time National Games champion Xue Changrue and national record holder Li Ling.

Yao defeated Xue and other 4 participants to take the crown at 5.41 meters, as he created new record of CAST. He tried three times at 5.50 meters but all failed.

"It's very unique. It's very special. I don't know how to express but I felt so cool when I competed on city wall, so many people cheer and so many old buildings around us." said Xue.

It's the second time that a China Athletic Street Tour (CAST) race held at Xi'an, Shaanxi Province. The tournament put the competition on street, square or landmark building instead of stadium in order to make athletic more cool and popular among young people.

The tournament has been held in Guangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing this year.
