TIRANA, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- Albanian Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati Wednesday said that year 2018 would be decisive for Albania's integration in the European Union (EU) given that in spring 2018 the EU was going to discuss the enlargement package.
Speaking at a press conference as chief negotiator for Albania's EU integration, Bushati told reporters that it was clear that the ball was in Albania's court so the political forces here should strengthen national consensus, dialogue rather than get caught up in rhetoric.
Bushati also criticized the way how the process was handled so far saying that the EU was moving, although not with the pace Albania wanted.
However, he highlighted that if there was good will for making reforms and changes, Albania couldn't say EU had not responded.
In this regard, he made an appeal to all political parties to consider EU integration as Albania's only national project.
"Since we are about to have the new Parliament session, I hope that the political good will between the government and opposition can be shown in a more structured cooperation. I hope that all political actors have taken their lessons from past events," Bushati declared.
