LONDON, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- British stocks decreased on Monday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 0.36 percent, or 27.03 points, to close at 7,411.47 points.
Fresnillo, a major multinational metal company, soared 2.91 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. British clothing and home products retailer Next, and Randgold Resources increased by 2.25 percent and 2.02 percent respectively.
The multinational airline holding company International Consolidated Airlines Group was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 2.19 percent. Prudential, an international financial services group, dropped 1.89 percent, and Provident Financial, a British sub-prime lender, fell 1.83 percent. Enditem
