Tokyo stocks lose ground in morning

TOKYO, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground Monday morning as the market mood turned risk averse.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 170.03 points, or 0.86 percent, from Friday to 19,521.44.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 14.58 points, or 0.90 percent, to 1,605.01.

Marine transportation, real estate, and information and communication-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the close of the morning trade.
