TIANJIN, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Shi Zhiyong of Zhejiang won the battle between Olympic champions in the men's 69kg event while Lyu Xiaojun of Tianjin took the men's 77kg title from weightlifting competitions at the 13th National Games here on Sunday.

Shi, 24, lifted 160kg in the snatch and 198kg in the jerk for a winning total of 358kg.

Liao Hui of PLA took the silver with 354kg (160/194) while Wu Chao of Tianjin brought home the bronze at 342kg.

"Chinese weightlifters are strong in this division. Winning at National Games is harder than at Olympics. It is a pity that I failed to break the world record." Shi said after the match.

Hours later, Tianjin weightlifter Lyu Xiaojun met no challenge in the men's 77kg as the Rio Olympic runner-up bagged the gold medal with a winning total of 366kg.

Zhong Guoshun of Chongqing finished second with 354kg, 2 kilograms more than his Chongqing teammate Li Dayin who finished third.
