New trends unveiled at 2017 CTR Insight Summit

BEIJING Sept. 2 (Xinhuanet) -- The latest trends of consumption market, advertising market and media development were unveiled on Wednesday during the 2017 CTR Insight Summit in Beijing.

According to the report by CTR Market Research, which is a joint venture between China International Television Corporation (CITVC) and Kantar Group, the first half of 2017 saw a moderate increase of 2.6% in the fast moving consumer goods market (FMCG).

For consumers, the online shopping sale soared by 28% ,indicating that the traditional retail industry was entering into a transitional period. Youngsters, as the report introduced, were more willing to buy staff for entertainment and socializing purposes.

For the advertising market, a 0.4% year-on-year growth was registered in terms of the advertising price (rate card rate), among which the traditional media advertising market was down by 4.1% whereas the emerging market, namely the out-of-home (OOH) media advertising market rose by 12.9%.

As regards to the audience size, with a number of 1.28 billion audience, television is the media with the widest coverage. The Internet media posted a slowdown of its growth, while the Out-Of-Home media enjoyed higher access rate.

In addition, CTR predicted trends in the media market, including the speed-up of media convergence

During the summit, the Smart TV Big Data Alliance (STVA), initially sponsored by CTR, held its logo-unveiling ceremony. Mr. Xu Lijun, the Executive Director and General Manager of CTR clarified that the STVA was dedicated to contributing to the smart TV industry.

It was the 14th consecutive summit held by CTR Market Research. Around 500 representatives attended this summit.
