BERLIN, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- RB Leipzig have signed midfielder Kevin Kampl from league rivals Bayer Leverkusen with immediate effect, both Bundesliga clubs announced on Thursday.

On the last day of the transfer period, RB Leipzig reinforced their team with the signing of Slovenian midfielder Kevin Kampl, who has inked a four-year deal, which will keep him until 2021 in Leipzig.

"I am very delighted that the transfer worked out. Leipzig's trainings centre is great. The preconditions for a further development are outstanding at Leipzig," Kampl said.

It will be the third club for Kevin Kampl in the Bundesliga as he already played for Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen. At his new club he received the jersey number 44, which he also had with his previous club.

"Kevin can hurt teams with his through balls. He is dangerous in front of the goal and is fast. These are attributes we will need," Leipzig's head coach Ralph Hasenhuettl said.

Leipzig sit currently on the 7th place of the Bundesliga standings. They clash with 3rd placed Hamburg at the opener of the 3rd round on September 8.
