BERLIN, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- Borussia Dortmund have signed Jeremy Toljan from Hoffenheim, both Bundesliga clubs confirmed in an official statement on Wednesday.

The "BVB" reinforced their defense with the signing of right back Jeremy Toljan, who has penned a five-year deal until summer 2022.

"Jeremy is a versatile defender. He can play on both wings and was one of the guarantors for Germany's Under-21 team to win the EURO title this summer," Dortmund's sporting director Michael Zorc said.

The 23-year-old new arrival started in 2013 his professional senior career at Hoffenheim where he made 62 appearances to provide two goals.

Toljan is a Germany youth international and played overall 38 international caps. He lifted the UEFA European Under-21 Championship this year and clinched the Silver Medal with Germany at the Summer Olympic Games in 2016.

The "BVB" sit atop the Bundesliga standings. They clash with Freiburg at the 3rd round on September 9.
