LUANDA, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- Angola's two biggest opposition parties have rejected the partial results of last week's elections, saying they lacked transparency.

The ruling party People's Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) won with 61 percent of votes after 98 percent of ballots were counted.

National Union for Total Independence of Angola (UNITA), the country's biggest opposition party, said seven of the board members at the National Electoral Commission (CNE) had said "they did not see any arrival of faxes with minutes of votes from polling centers that could serve as a basis for the provisional results," according to a UNITA statement on its website Monday.

The electoral commission announced results that "were not based on reliable information coming from the provinces," said the Broad Convergence for the Salvation of Angola-Electoral Coalition (Casa-CE), the country's second opposition party. "The origin the data is unknown."

UNITA leader, Isaias Samakuva told reporters on Saturday that Angola did not have a president-elect as the results announced by CNE were not valid.

If the results are maintained, ruling MPLA party's presidential candidate, Joao Lourenco, will be sworn in on Sept. 21 as the country's new leader, replacing long-serving President Jose Eduardo dos Santos who has been in power since 1979 in Africa's second biggest oil producer.

MPLA will get 150 seats in the 220-member parliament, down from 175 five years ago, according to CNE's website. UNITA will have increased its parliamentarians to 51 from 32, while Casa-CE will grow to 16 from the current eight.
