TBILISI, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- A border police helicopter made an emergency landing in the Borjomi Gorge in central Georgia Sunday morning without causing any casualty, said the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The pilot managed to land the helicopter on the water in such a way as to avoid casualties, the ministry said in a statement.

It said the helicopter had gone through a checkup on Friday. The helicopter had flown over the Borjomi Gorge for more than 600 times and fetched up to 1,300 tons of water to extinguish a nearby wildfire.

Earlier Sunday, it was reported that a M-8 helicopter crashed into the water in the Borjomi Gorge. All the three crew members have been taken to a hospital in Tbilisi. None of them was fatally injured.
