APEC Food Security Week in Vietnam adopts 3 documents

HO CHI MINH CITY, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- In the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Food Security Week, which concluded in Vietnam's southern Can Tho city on Friday, APEC member economies adopted three important documents.

The documents include the Action Plan to implement the Multi-Year Framework Program on Food Security and Climate Change, the Action Plan to implement the Strategic Framework on Rural-Urban Development to Strengthen Food Security and Quality Growth, and the Can Tho Statement on Enhancing Food Security and Sustainable Agriculture in Response to Climate Change.

The Action Plan to implement the Multi-Year Framework Program on Food Security and Climate Change is to realize the APEC Food Security Roadmap Towards 2020 and Bogor Goals 2020.

The Food Security Week was attended by two ministers, seven deputy ministers and nearly 700 delegates from APEC member economies, international organizations and research institutes. According to many delegates, the economies are faced with challenges related to the supply and demand for food.
