MADRID, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- The Islamic State (IS) on Wednesday night published a video in Spanish threatening to seek "revenge" for the eight terrorists killed by police during last week's attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils.

The video came six days after the attacks for which the IS claimed responsibility. The terrorist attacks left 15 people dead and over 120 injured.

In the video, an IS fighter, who identifies himself as "Al Qurtubi", said in Spanish: "We will avenge your massacre; what you are doing to the Islamic State now?"

The vidoe also showed pictures of the Barcelona attack, Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, Spanish King Felipe VI, and Younes Abouyaaqoub, the man who drove the van into crowds in Las Ramblas, killing 13 people last Thursday.

The video also makes reference to the former Muslim kingdom of Spain, which was finally reconquered by the Spanish in 1492.

"With the will of Allah, Al Andalus will once again become what it once was ... the kingdom of the Kalifate," says the video. It asks Muslims "not to forget the blood spilled by the Inquisition."

"We are never going to leave you in peace," says another IS fighter, identified as "Abusalman the Andalusian".

Spain is currently on a level 4 (on a scale of 5) alert for a possible terrorist attack, although security measures at stations, airports and places where large groups of people gather have been increased in the wake of the Barcelona and Cambrils attacks.
