DOHA, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- Chad decided to shut Qatar embassy in Ndjamena and expel its staff after 10 days, accusing Doha of seeking to destabilize the country via Libya, Al Jazeera website said on Wednesday.

"Given the continued involvement of the state of Qatar in the attempts at the destabilization of Chad from Libya, the government has decided on the closure of the embassy and the departure of the ambassador and diplomatic personnel from national territory," the report cited a Chad statement as saying.

The statement added that the decision was driven by the will to "safeguard peace and stability in the region" and Chad's government would close its diplomatic mission in Doha and recall all personnel in the upcoming days.

Chad, Mauritania and Senegal all recalled their ambassadors from Qatar in June.

They acted after Saudi Arabia-led quartet cut diplomatic ties with Qatar on June 5 and imposed a full blockade on it, stopping all land, air and sea traffic with it.

Qatar was accused of destabilizing the region with its support for Islamist groups and terrorism, but the rich tiny Gulf nation has denied all the charges.

Senegal has decided to reappoint its ambassador to Qatar Tuesday, after a telephone conversation between Qatar's Amir sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and Senegal's President Macky Sall.
