LUSAKA, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- One person died while 12 others sustained injuries when a passenger train derailed in southern Zambia's Magoye district, the police said Wednesday.
Southern Province Police Commissioner Bonnie Kapeso said the incident happened around Wednesday noon, involving a train that was traveling from Lusaka, the country's capital, to the southern city of Livingstone.
The police chief identified the dead person as a female who was working as a casual worker for the state-run railway firm, Zambia Railways.
The police have since cordoned the place to secure passengers' luggage, he added.
He however did not state what caused the accident.
