JAKARTA, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- Car sales in Indonesia, an indicator for purchasing power of high income group, grew 28 percent to 85,131 units in July on monthly basis, the association said on Wednesday.

That compares with 66,389 units in June, according to data from the country's automotive association (Gaikindo).

The highest sales were booked by Toyota car producer, followed by Daihatsu and Honda.

Loosing policy applied by the central bank on Tuesday and relatively stable rupiah value against U.S. dollars are expected to boost the business in the sector.

The Southeast Asia's largest economy is forecast to expand at a faster pace in the second half of the year after growing steady at 5.01 percent in the previous quarter.
