DUBLIN, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- Irish police said on Tuesday they have seized massive drugs in an operation targeting organized crime groups based in the Dublin area.
The operation was launched on Monday in west Dublin and County Meath, just 50 km north of Dublin, and drugs with an estimated street value of 800,000 euros (941,000 U.S. dollars) were seized, police said.
During the operation, two cars were stopped and searched on the M50 motorway. Cannabis herbs with an estimated street value of 80,000 euros were seized.
Follow-up searches were later carried out at an apartment in west Dublin, which resulted in the seizure of crystallized MDMA, cannabis resin and herbs with a total estimated street value of 720,000 euros.
Two men, aged 47 and 58, were detained, and are being held at a local police station.
