YEREVAN, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- On Tuesday, Armenia's Ministry of Emergency Situations sent firefighting crews to Georgia to help put out the wildfires that have engulfed Armenia's northern neighbor, reported the Armenian government agency on its web site.
Georgia had earlier asked for help from the international community to put out the fires.
Armenia sent 8 crews of firefighters and one unit of rescuers along with a medical crew, a total of 57 people to aid with the fires that started in Georgia on Sunday nearby the village of Daba.
The wildfires are in places which are difficult to get to due to the mountainous terrain, winds and dry weather.
