DHAKA, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh's cellular service provider Banglalink Tuesday announced its decision to invest half a billion U.S. dollars in the development of digital infrastructure for a powerful 4G network in the country.
Banglalink, a subsidiary of Netherlands-based company VEON Ltd., is one of the leading digital communications service providers in Bangladesh with over 31.572 million subscribers.
The company said in a statement that it is working relentlessly and upgrading its network to offer a data-heavy and seamless connectivity for its customers.
Pierre Boutros Obeid, chief technology officer of Banglalink, said they are committed to offer the best in 4G to ensure digital inclusion of everyone and a digital life for all.
Banglalink, which has been operating in Bangladesh for 12 years, in April this year announced that it has signed an agreement with China's ZTE to build the world's largest virtual Subscriber Data Management (vSDM) platform.
VEON's CEO Jean-Yves Charlier had earlier in a press conference expressed his willingness to invest 1 billion U.S. dollars in Bangladesh over the next three years, more than half of which is exclusively for network upgrade.
