ADDIS ABABA, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- Ethiopia needs 487 million US dollars for drought relief from July 2017 to December 2017.

The figure was given by Ethiopia's National Disaster Risk Management Commission on Tuesday which said the money will be utilized for nutritional services, provision of animal feed and construction of health facilities.

The Ethiopian government has already committed 22 million US dollars of the 487 million US dollars needed for the six months drought relief.

It has also already provided 120 thousand metric tons of emergency wheat supplies in July and 46 thousand metric tons of emergency wheat supplies in August.

The aid appeal coincides with Ethiopian government announcement early this month that Ethiopians in need of food aid will increase from the current 7.8 million to 8.5 million people.
