TBILISI, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- A wild fire in central Georgia is almost extinguished, according to Georgia's National Forest Agency on Monday.

Tornike Gvazava, head of the agency, said that about 2-2.5 hectares of forestland has been burnt down by the fire, which is near the Daba village in the Borjomi Municipality.

He said the affected area mainly includes the territory that was burnt in 2008 and is now covered by bushes while fresh forest has not been touched by the fire so far.

The fire started in a difficult relief section of the forest, which means it was hard for firefighters to approach the location, he said.

Currently, 200 firefighters are still involved in the fire extinguishing efforts, according to local media reports.

The fire is expected to be fully extinguished on Monday. The cause of it is still unknown.
