Morocco voices full solidarity with Spain after Barcelona attacks

RABAT, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- Morocco on Friday strongly condemned Barcelona terror attacks, voicing its full solidarity with neighboring Spain.

In a message of condolences to king Felipe VI of Spain and queen Letizia, the Moroccan King Mohammed VI said he was "deeply saddened to learn the news of the despicable terrorist attack that targeted a tourist area in downtown Barcelona which claimed the lives of many, and strongly condemned it."

He expressed to Spain's King Morocco's firm condemnation of this "appalling criminal act," stressing that it "runs counter all human values and religious precepts."

The king expressed his country's total commitment to international efforts seeking to address the plague of terrorism and eradicate it.

Fourteen people were killed and 130 injured in the two attacks. A total of 34 different nationalities were affected by the tragedy.

The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for the twin attacks.
