BARCELONA, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- Spanish capital Madrid has tightened its security measures on Friday after double terrorist attacks hit Barcelona and Cambrils.

Madrid's city council placed flower pots and bollards in main streets of the capital Thursday night, while more police were dispatched to patrol the city streets, following the order of the Ministry of Interior.

The number of people killed in Thursday's double terror attacks rose to 14, after a woman died of injuries at the Joan XXIII hospital, the Catalan emergency services confirmed.

On Thursday, at Barcelona's iconic Las Ramblas street, 13 people were killed and more than 100 others injured when a van rammed into people in the pedestrian area.

The van driver was still at large and three people were arrested due to the attack, according to local police.

Hours later, Spanish police foiled the second terror attack and killed five alleged terrorists who hit pedestrians in the Catalan resort town of Cambrils, about 100 kilometers southwest of Barcelona. A woman injured in the Cambrils attack died on Friday.

Catalan emergency services also said number of the injured has risen to 130 in the double terror attacks.
