MADRID, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- A third person suspected of being linked to the Barcelona attack was arrested in the northern Spanish city of Ripoll on Friday.

The police has not yet released the identity of the detainee.

The Spanish police arrested two suspects for their possible involvement in the terror attack in Barcelona on Thursday, with one of them identified as Driss Oukabir Soprano, a Ripoll resident of Moroccan origin.

Soprano told the police his papers might have been stolen. Some sources said his brother, a 18-year old man, might have stolen his papers and could be involved in the attack.

A van plowed into crowds of tourists in one of Barcelona's busiest thoroughfares Thursday, leaving at least 13 people dead and over 100 others injured.

The driver of the van fled the scene and is still at large according to police information.

The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack.
