TIRANA, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- Six technical ministers and a technical deputy Prime Minister who were appointed by the largest opposition party in Albania, Democratic Party (DP), before June 25 general elections, resigned on Thursday.

The resignation came three months after Prime Minister Edi Rama and opposition leader Lulzim Basha struck a political deal.

The appointment of six technical ministers by the opposition was part of the deal which aimed to guarantee free and fair elections.

However, after the landslide victory of ruling Socialist Party (SP) and reconfirmation of Rama for a second mandate, opposition's technical ministers stayed another two months and said that they would draft an election report and then leave.

According to statements made by the technical ministers, they were never received by PM Rama as only the Secretary General of the Prime Minister was in charge of communicating with them.

Following their resignation, the ministers are expected to make public their report.
