COLOMBO, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- Three people were injured when part of a building collapsed in Negombo, just outside Sri Lanka's capital Colombo on Thursday, police said.
The three injured were rushed to the Negombo Base Hospital by rescue workers.
Police spokesperson Ruwan Gunasekara told Xinhua that the building was used as a hotel and a new concrete slab was being constructed to extend the hotel premises.
"It is this concrete slab which collapsed resulting in three people getting injured," Gunasekara said.
A police investigation has been launched.
