KABUL, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- A U.S. service member who received injuries in eastern Afghanistan has died, the NATO-led Resolute Support (RS) mission said on Thursday.
"One U.S. service member has died as a result of wounds suffered Wednesday during a partnered operation with U.S. and Afghan Forces in Eastern Afghanistan," the mission said in a statement.
The statement added U.S. and Afghan forces were also injured during the operation aimed at further reducing Islamic State presence in Afghanistan, adding more information will be released as appropriate.
