ADDIS ABABA, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- Two civilians were injured in a grenade attack Saturday night in Bahir Dar city, capital city of Amhara regional state in northern Ethiopia, police said Monday.

Police are on the manhunt for the suspects of the grenade attack, and has already managed to apprehend 5 suspects on another grenade attack that occurred in the city early this month, said Walelign Dagnew, Head of Bahir Dar city Police Department.

Four other suspects who are suspected of planning bomb attacks in the city have also been apprehended, according to Bahir Dar Police Department.

The spate of grenade attacks comes in the tense first anniversary of clashes between Ethiopian security forces and protesters that left several people dead.

On August 7, 2016 protesters from the Amhara ethnic group amassed in the streets of Bahir Dar. The protesters who were venting anger at perceived political and economic disfranchisement engaged in deadly clashes with security forces that left several people dead.

Since then, a series of bomb attacks which Ethiopian government blames on "terrorists" and several strike actions have hit business hard in the normally busy streets of Bahir Dar city.
