BANGKOK, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- Two people were killed in an oil tanker fire in eastern Thailand's Rayong province on Saturday, local media reported.
The accident happened at about 1 p.m. local time (0600 GMT) when an oil tanker crashed into a motorcycle after one of its tyres burst. The tanker then veered off the road and overturned, which resulted in a big explosion, local reports said.
According to a footage posed by Sanook News, the two vehicles were engulfed by the fire, with flames and black smoke billowing from the road.
Police confirmed that two were killed at the scene.
Witnesses saw the oil tanker driver and his helper trying to climb out of a window but the tanker burst into flames before they could escape, according to local media.
A rescue team has rushed to the spot, where there has been a gridlock after the explosion.
Police have not identified the victims. The accident is under investigation.
