CARACAS, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Venezuela's National Constituent Assembly (ANC) said on Friday it had created an Economic Commission to tackle the country's economic and development problems.
The commission is headed by constituent member and former minister of communes, Aristobulo Isturiz, the ANC announced via Twitter.
President Nicolas Maduro, who proposed the constituent body be elected to amend the Constitution, had said one of the ANC's tasks would be to diversify the country's oil-reliant economy, and draft a law to regulate prices for basic goods.
Inflation in Venezuela has skyrocketed due to shortages of food and staple items, and fixing the economy is one of the priorities of the ANC.
