NAIROBI, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Fresh protests erupted on Friday night in Nairobi and the lakeside city of Kisumu after the electoral body declared Uhuru Kenyatta the winner of presidential elections held on Tuesday.

Gunshots and screams of protests rent the air in the western Kenyan city of Kisumu, an opposition stronghold and in Nairobi's residential estates where residents took to the streets to express their anger.

"I have just seen a lorry and a car barely miss being stoned. Stones are put across the road and several gunshots are heard in Kibera slums," said an eye witness.

He said there were consistent gunshots in Kibera, Mathare, Kawangware and Kariobangi slums in Nairobi.
