SARAJEVO, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- A World War II bomb was successfully removed from the Sava river some 200 km north from here on Wednesday, local media reported.

According to the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), the 250 kg bomb was located in the Sava river three meters below the bridge, which has a high frequency of traffic.

Fahrudin Solak, from the Federal Civil Protection Administration (FUCZ), said that teams were actively present for seven days in the area where the bomb was found.

The bomb had some 100 kg of explosives and a very high destructive power, Solak told federal news agency Fena.

An area of 200 meters from the bomb was evacuated and traffic at the border crossing with Croatia was stopped for two hours from late morning to early afternoon, the BiH Ministry of Security's press office said.

In May 2017, a World War II bomb was found and deactivated on uninhibited area in Mostar, a city some 120 km south of Sarajevo. Enditem
