ZAGREB, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- Croatia's consumption in June increased by 7.8 percent compared with the same period last year, marking the strongest growth in the past ten years, Croatian Bureau of Statistics revealed on Wednesday.

The positive growth trend has been ongoing since September 2014.

According to Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union (EU), Croatia in June recorded the highest monthly growth of consumption in the EU by 5.8 percent. When it comes to year-on-year statistics, Croatia is in second place, with an 8.2-percent rise, just below Slovenia where consumption improved by 10.2 percent.

Economic analysis from Raiffeisen Bank (RBA) in Croatia said that consumption had increased due to increased consumer optimism.

"Expectations of record tourism achievements should lead to a series of positive effects on personal consumption, household income, and the economy as a whole," said an RBA analysis published in the local newspaper Jutarnji List.

Another positive factor, they argued, were the tax breaks and tax reform that the new government had introduced.
